"From Behind"

This is a recent pastel I did of one of my friends "from behind". No names, but you know who you are!

"Jungle Fever" - SOLD

I started this painting on a cold, rainy weekend in Port Aransas. It's one of those "out of my head" paintings and I guess I must of been wishing for different climate. I was also reading Mutant Message Down Under about Australia and this is what came thru on the canvas.

"Pink Lake House"

This is the last plein air painting for this month. We went to Emma Long Park and this big pink brick house across the water caught my eye. I've live here 30 years and this is the first time I've ever been to this park. I find I'm still discovering great new places with this fun group of painters!

"Ski Shores"

This is the 2nd plein air painting. We all painted at Ski Shores last weekend and had a great time. This place is so funky with so much STUFF, it was hard to find the right pile to paint. We all spread out and painted, then enjoyed one of their huge famous hamburgers afterward. This is the first time I've ever visited this place and am glad I'm more up to date on a long time Austin tradition!

"Zilker Cabin" Plein Air

Since the weather's been so nice, I'm back outside painting again. This is the first of 3 recent plein air paintings (painted on location in 2-3 hours) I've just completed. This is the little cabin at Austin Gardens. I love to come here, there's always something new to see and it's always so peaceful.

"Happy Hour"

I took a photo of these very appetizing toddies at Willie G's in Galveston on my last trip. I loved the reflections and finally decided to paint it. This is one of my favorite watering holes in Galveston.

"Texas Barn"

This one's for my friends who keep clamoring for paintings of rustic old buildings. This painting is a joint artistic collaboration between fellow artist Rae Andrews and myself. Rae started this as a plein air painting. She blocked in the barn on location and then lost interest. I took the painting, added some elements and finished it. We then decided to both sign it. It was so much fun, we've decided to do it again sometime. I won't be posting much for the next 2 weeks because I'll be going out of town. Will try to sneak in some painting while I'm gone to post when I get back.
